Summary

Out of 10,133 practice citations across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity in Javvo's study, only 12 were negative. Every negative comment traces to a very low rating or patient complaints on a review platform; AI does not form its own negative opinions about a practice.

The 12 negative mentions from AI all trace to patient reviews

The negative citations cluster tightly. The 12 negatives name seven businesses: two podiatry practices drew 3, three dental practices drew 4, and two chiropractic businesses drew 5. Every one is based on a very low rating or written patient complaints on a review platform; AI simply quotes what patients have written. Google AI Overview showed the same restraint, with 0.5% of its practice mentions negative.

When AI does share negative sentiment, it adopts a measured tone

The criticism is quoted, weighed, and often softened with balance rather than amplified.

Dr. [Doctor], DDS. Pediatric dentistry in [city]; Healthgrades lists her as accepting new patients, but the visible rating is 1.8/5 from 6 reviews, so I'd be cautious and read the reviews closely.
